So because life is a cruel bitch I have to hold off on Roller Derby until the next round of fresh meat starts. One: My wheels are a death trap and I can't quite afford new skates. I just left the day job and am back on the hunt for work with an interview that I had for an internship recently.
Also I've been taking photos of my outfits so no worries, the clothing reviews and suggestions/ootd's are coming soon!
I'm all settled into the new apartment, I'm just slowly but surely unpacking everything.

Fresh Meat - Why I'm glad I'm a Carnivore...
(Just a warning that you all know this is still under construction and a new header should be coming soon -- Also a reminder to check out my concert review of last years shows at http://strength-through-music.tumblr.com)
Sunday was Fresh Meat for the Toronto Roller Derby and there were a lot of women there, over 80 of which who stayed the day, paid their dues, and plan on coming back for another go. It's funny how you can point out a derby girl easily on your way to practice even without the gear. Waiting for the bus there are a bunch of people with their kids, and then 20 girls, most of them pierced, pinup style makeup, glasses and some form of eccentric fashion statement. All the way from the girl with the dyke look head to toe, the platinum white haired blonde, the girl wearing as many colours as she can possibly fit on at once and still feel good, and me...with an octopus on my head. One of the committee members was on the bus and asked that we take a picture of us in front of it to prove that people do ride it since the TTC is currently threatening to close down our bus route for over half of the year when we need it the most to get to and from games, but on the plus side this did not discourage any of the girls from showing up and signing their lives over.
While waiting for everyone to filter in, most of us watched the Toronto Junior Roller Derby practice. Let me tell you, it's intimidating watching an 11 year old skate better than you can now let alone better than you could when you, yourself, were 11 years of age. The coaches and Fresh Meat come out on skates and try to holler over the noise of little girls screaming to 100+ girls about the ins and outs of derby making sure to highlight the collarbone injury one of them is proudly sporting. I'm giving in and doing it, I pay my dues, pass over my information and sign my ass up. I'm a carnivore and I'm going to take this other meat down. (In the friendly way of course).
Apart from all of this, there is my move coming up soon, so proper fashion reviews and photos and outfits of the day and so on will be occurring and posting on the blog in just a few more days.

Welcome to the world of Tomorrow!
So I've caved. I'm joining the blog universe. What types of ramblings will you be reading? Mainly fashion. OOTD type deals. But also interesting recipes, the trials and tribulations of being at the same time a circus performer, a burlesque dancer, a roller derby girl, a live music enthusiast, an avid television watcher, and an office worker all at the same time. So what was originally meant to be a fashion blog will probably be a mish mash of stuff but I'll try to keep it as interesting and colourful as possible.
Things about me that will be pertinent to your understanding of my blog?
Things about me that will be pertinent to your understanding of my blog?
- Music is my life blood. As I'm sure it is for most people. I fine I identify with hipsters without all the inherent douchiness (is that a word?) that comes along with it. Mainly focusing on the wonderful world of Bowie, T.Rex, Amanda Palmer and other glam rock.
- I love Dinosaurs. My interests stem all the way from fashion...to the things that 8 year old boys love. So dinosaur accessories, nerdy comic book chic? Any of that. Trust me I love it all.
- Penelope Garcia. Or Kirsten Vangsness of the CBS series Criminal Minds. Her warddrobe...is basically my goal in life. Her style matches so closely to mine. Well her and Paloma Faith. So send suggestions my way. :)
- The 70's. I love them. I'm sure I would've been like a child in a candy store had I grown up in 1970's UK, but instead I replace it with obsession and collection of tacky clothing, and bizarre furniture. :) It's a fun hobby.
- Balloons are sexy. The Circus is one of my favourite places to be. Toronto has a vibrant circus scene much of it happening over at the Centre of Gravity which is a circus training centre on the east end of town. You can catch me performing there from time to time under the monochre of Carni Val.
- Roller Derby. I'm starting up this weekend as Fresh Meat for ToRD (Toronto Roller Derby) under the derby name of Pee-Wee Harmin' (can't you tell I'm a tad obsessed ;)). So life on skates and covering up bruises to look nice I'm sure will become a new specialty.
- Tits. I have them. I love them. I show them off from time to time covered in sparkly pasties
